Day 41 - 12 Weeks to a New Me

Hi
Hey a rainy day in Spain in August, so make the most of it....respite from the sun!!

Ok it is easy to blame the sun and heat for lethergy, lack of energy and vitality, wanting to sleep more as we feel hot and bothered after we move any muscle!!

But once we start on that slippery slope, I think it is easy to slide down rather than try to climb up again because that takes effort and we don't have much of that in the heat! A really vicious cycle to get into, poor sleeping patterns at night, leads to a more docile day, drinking caffinated drinks, cold or hot all they do is dehydrate even more. Sipping alcohol whilst lounging by a pool, sounds like paradise to some, but can be very dangerous! Alcohol dehydrates the body very quickly, getting up from a prone position in the heat often causes light headedness or feinting, knock on effect is a fall.

If you are eating rubbish, ie fast, refined foods high in fat and sugar, this will slow your brain down and cause many digestion problems, as the organs heat up in the body they require water, minerals, salts, fibres and proteins to balance out the over heating effect. Drinking iced drinks when you body is over heating is making it work harder, like putting iced water onto a hob after you have turned it off, it is a huge shock to the system. Natural tempurature water is better for hydration and for the organs.

Eating less is often used as an excuse when it is hot, but missing meals or huge gaps will not help any healing process or helping your body to cope with the heat. Also you will keep up to 40% more fat next time you eat!

Light meals. little and often with lots of water with the meals and between, anything spring to mind??? Tapas wonder why they are so popular here, think the Spanish just maybe know a thing or two!!

Enjoy the summer, make the most of the great weather, try the local way of eating.....and your body will be able to respond in a positive way and be the best it can be.

Bye for now
Linda
